ID Card Issurance
The National Identity Card is issued to national of the Gambia, serving as official proof of the bearers’ nationality and carrying his/her bio-data (i.e. Photograph, name, date of birth, place of birth and other personal details). It is valid for a period of five years and is renewable when it is expired, lost or damaged.
Procedures to acquire National Identity Card
The Gambian ECOWAS Identity Card is intended for Gambian citizens of 18 years of age and above.
If applicant is a Gambian citizen, must produce at least one of the following:
- Birth certificate
- Gambian passport
- Voter’s card
- Seyfo’s certificate
- Village Alkalo’s certificate
If applicant obtained Gambian citizenship by Registration or Naturalization, one of the following:
- Registration certificate
- Naturalization certificate
Proof of Gambian Nationality is subject to screening therefore, every applicant shall undergo the interview to support his/ her claim for Gambian citizenship.
