Office of the Director General

The Director General leads the Gambia Immigration Department, providing strategic direction, institutional oversight, and policy guidance. This office anchors the department’s leadership and external representation.

Units & Offices:

  • Secretary & Support Staff: Provides executive assistance, manages correspondence, schedules, and maintains confidential records.
  • Legal & Prosecution Office: Handles legal advisory services, prosecutes immigration-related offenses, and ensures compliance with national laws.
  • Intelligence / Risk Analysis Cell: Conducts surveillance, gathers intelligence, and assesses risks to inform operational decisions and national security coordination.
  • Directorate of Press & Community Engagement: Oversees public communication, media relations, and community outreach.
  • Public Relations Office: Manages GID’s public image, media coverage, and institutional branding.
  • Protocol Office: Coordinates official visits, ceremonies, and diplomatic engagements.
  • Gambia Commission for Refugees: Administers refugee affairs in collaboration with national and international partners.
  • Community Engagement: Leads outreach programs, sensitization campaigns, and stakeholder dialogue.
