Visa
Generally, securing a visa to the Gambia is one of the requirements in order that entry may be permitted to a visitor. The grant of a visa, however is no guarantee that the recipient will be allow to land in the country for which it is issued.
The visa is issued subject to compliance with the immigration laws on arrival, and the final authority with regard to granting permission to enter rest with the immigration officers at the port of arrival.
Types Of Visas Issued For Entry Into The Gambia
Ordinary Visas:
a. Single Journey Visa: – is a visa valid for one journey or single entry in The Gambia.
b. Multiple Journey Visa: – is a visa valid for multiple entries to and from The Gambia for a period not exceeding 12 months.
c. Transit Visa: – issued to enable the holder to pass through The Gambia enroute to a further destination. Transit visa may be issued to a person for the purpose of passing through the Gambia provided that:
I. They are in possession of onward tickets to final destination.
II. Their entry into a country beyond the Gambia is authorized

Note: The statuses of various countries above are subjected to changes due to circumstances. Being in possession of valid visa or entry clearance doesn’t give a holder/s 100% admission into the Gambia. This is because all passengers coming into the Gambia is subject to immigration screening upon arrival. Where a holder/s name appears on the watch list shall be refused entry for security reason. Where a holder/s is confirmed by a medical staff at the entry point of being an insane person or have a communicable disease in accordance with the Immigration Act shall be refused entry into the Gambia.
